For a long time on an education discussion list that I manage for teachers using mobile devices, one of the most complained about topics has been the apps that just don’t work in environments (read- schools) that have authenticated network setups. However, those in the know have now stopped complaining about our wireless network as we have discovered that in fact the apps that don’t work are those that are not ‘proxy-aware’ – ie. apps that don’t have a built in means for passing information past a proxy setting. uLearning
