Oh, and not all browsers are ready for HTML5 and if you are still using IE 6, 7, & 8, it’s not good news, I am afraid! HTML5 works best with IE10 and browsers like Maxthon, Chrome, Firefox and Safari. This means you have to build different apps for different phones e.g. the iPhone, Blackberry, Samsung SIII etc. and later. Surprised? So what’s the fuss about HTML5?

The second was the phenomenal incursion of mobile phones, it seems everyone carried one and many individuals were absorbed in its use through their commute. Things change somewhat with smart-phones contrasted with the feature phones and media players being used by commuters earlier. Once or twice a week I commute to the office using public transport.

Although not really “app building”, special mention needs to go to JQTouch ( [link] ) and Sencha Touch ( [link] ), 2 AJAX frameworks that you need to use if you want web-apps to look and feel like native apps Rhodes / RhoMobile - [link] Rhodes is a harder-core techie solution, which tries to do without the browser, giving you tools to build cross platform native apps.

In our work we found huge benefits in making content as richly interactive as possible, so we have narrowed our focus to high-end devices only (smartphones, tablets, wifi devices), but because we invest a lot of our energy into the media quality, it is essential to us that it travels well between Android - iOS - Windows Phone - others We have put ourselves here (see image above).

According to leading analyst Josh Bersin , the combined entity will grow SumTotal's "total market share to 12.5%. Interesting news indeed.

Phones today cost far less than they ever did, do far more and are cheaper to use because network usage charges are dropping consistently. As I mentioned earlier (point 3) phones are now broadly accessible and affordable to the masses. I’ve been occupied with writing a paper to promote the adoption of mobile learning amongst corporates and enterprises. While trawling through multiple web-links, a pattern of myths about mobile learning emerges. Today’s devices have large usable screens, and full QWERTY keyboards. Mobile content is expensive!
