Reflections on the 2008 RCAC Symposium

The Mobile Learner

I was fortunate enough to attend another education technology conference in 2008 and this conference was the Western RCAC symposium held in London, Ontario on December 11th.  This afforded me the opportunity to focus on the messages provided by the presenters in why technology integration is crucial in today’s classroom. also attended two breakout session that had teachers discussing what they were doing in their classrooms in integrating technology to help kids learn.  Tags: warlick classroom flat RCAC Let me discuss each keynote speaker separately.

My iPod and its Voice Recorder in My Classroom (From TechnoLOTE.com)

mLearning World

TechnoLOTE.com has great post along with videos of using iPods in the classroom. My iPod and its Voice Recorder in My Classroom Here are two short videos that I made yesterday (recorded with a digital camera) that show how I use my iPod with its voice recorder in my class as a tool for recording students spoken work. Well, I really should say how my students use my iPod with its recorder, because even though I changed the display language to Chinese, they still want to get their hands all over it. Cell Phone Remote Control with Voicethread

Cell Phones in Learning

One classroom application I can see would be to project your Voicethread on the classroom screen/wall. Next, have Voicethread call your cell phone (yes they call you), and then you can walk around the classroom, navigate the slides, and have different students record a comment (using your cell phone) as you circulate throughout the room. It is so easy, see the tutorial here.

Every time a cell phone rings, a student gets an instant unit review!

Cell Phones in Learning

One way that cell phones can be utilized without having them inside of the classroom, is by developing projects for the cell phone. Therefore, students do not need to bring their cell phones into the classroom to create a content-based ringtone project. One project could be to have students' create unique ringtones for their own phone or to share with others. UPDATE!

QR Codes.Integration into Learning? The Possibilities

Classroom Applications As I mentioned above, QRcodes do not work with every cell phone. So I thought we should ponder some potential classroom applications: 1) Creating QRcode Campaigns Students could develop their own QRcodes (they can do this now with the generators mentioned above--for Free!). Times are-a-changing and I need to change with them. What can a QRcode do?
