Mobile Devices and 21st Century Skills: Part 2 – Knowledge Construction
The Mobile Learner
JULY 2, 2013
We move now to a discussion in the use if mobile devices and knowledge construction. Therefore, knowledge construction is about a change in focus from knowledge attainment to skill development. Knowledge construction is about using information in consecutive ways. How Do we Construct Knowledge in the 21st Century? 1) Is it Knowledge Construction and is Knowledge Construction the Main Requirement? It is very easy to confuse research or information discovery as knowledge construction. This teaching mindset is now obsolete.

Constructive learning with mobile devices for meaningful, collaborative learning first they solve the problem themselves, then they discuss with peers to see what the others did and how this works or not with their own solution, after that the teacher gives feedback. So it is a three step process towards collaborative knowledge construction. This model can be used for a variety of learning problems and goals, every time constructing on the learners solution.
