Celtx a free and open source software for developing eLearning storyboards

Ignatia Webs

This software is also useful if you want to construct a podcast which is in high need of a good narrative structure. If an eLearning course will be build with audiovisual aids, in most cases you will draw up or write a storyboard. Celtx is a great storyboard software. It just upgraded to their 1.0 version ( cross platform and delivered in a lot of languages ). Nice, I like it.

My top 5 list of agonising eLearning Myths

Ignatia Webs

Well-constructed eLearning is about human interaction (discussions, group work.) Through the last decade some myths got their paws on eLearning. And although a lot of us try to get these myths banned, they keep popping-up whenever I have an introduction talk on eLearning. BlogPhilosophy: what if all the learning in the world, does not save it from itself?

Ignatia Webs

It would give people the power to gather knowledge, not only that but they would construct knowledge and it would be taken up. This will be more of a grim post. The biggest aha-moment on eLearning I got this year came when I talked to Nicola Avery last week. We both attended Online Educa Berlin and started venting our frustrations afterwards. The same old, same old. and yes, that bothers me.

Blogphilosophy: informal learning brings us closer to the geniuses of all ages

Ignatia Webs

Informal learning has been an important self-constructing force throughout the ages. Learning from peers and looking up specialists in different fields to learn from them is a natural human learning trade from every era. Where would anybody be?

With informal learning you look at/find static knowledge and you construct your own knowledge in a dynamic way. Let me take you on a quest for learning affordance s and on a loop in which I will suggest that future informal learning will not differ from 19 th century teacher top-down learning. NOT an un-meeting: attending the EuroAfrican & ICT meeting in Brussels, Belgium

Ignatia Webs

The attendees are all experienced and bring a lot of expertise, but the meeting is not constructed in such a way that all this expertise is exchanged, which is a bit of a pity. At this moment I am attending a formal (very formal) meeting of the EuroAfrican & ICT group that focusses on possible collaboration for FP7 programs. No idea of the real knowledge that is in the room. There is a need to give an overview of the successful projects that were done, and so presentations are a part of the meeting, but. what about connecting to one another? other research topics).

Text-recognition will also be far more flexible than QR Codes; potentially, semantic constructs could be used to allow the recognition of an infinite variety of different types of data, the same way that OCR currently works on desktop computers. The Obama Campaign realized this and constructed the VP announcement to help them build critical mass with their mobile list. There’s been good coverage of Obama’s Vice Presidential announcement all over the web (particularly GigaOM and the NY Times ). One of the workshops in eLearning Africa 2009 was lead by George Siemens , a Canadian from the Manitoba University who was one of the organisers of the CKK08 massive course in 2008 in which I participated my two cents.
